Science Building Phase 2 Schedule Clarification of Plans for May 15-May 26, 2006 (Exam Week and the Week of Commencement) Draft: May 15, 2006 Several questions have arisen regarding forthcoming work on the Science building in the interval May 15-26, 2006 (exam week and the week of commencement). This note clarifies several points. 1. Ventilation in Physics Areas No disruption in ventilation is anticipated until August, 2006 (August 7-18). 2. Glove Box Room (Science 2005) Facilities Management plans to move equipment from this room on Tuesday, May 23. Weitz agrees that availability to them beginning Wednesday, May 24, is fully acceptable to them. 3. Chemistry Research Labs (Science 2006 and 2008) Research lab rooms 2006 and 2008 will not be directly impacted through summer 2006. Some noise is anticipated, but work can continue in Science 2006 and 2008 during summer 2006. (These rooms will be affected by the general ventilation outage, schedule for the 1964 and 1951 wings on August 7-18, but work until then can proceed.) 4. Chemistry Hoods in 1951 wing Hoods in Science 2102, 2103, and 2105 will not be workable on Tuesday, May 16. Hoods in biology and in other areas of the building will not be affected. Ventilation in the 1951 wing (biology, chemistry) will experience an outage (no hoods, air conditioning, etc) on May 18-19. 5. Psychology Science 0428 and 0430 Faculty/staff will clear these rooms by the end of Friday, May 19. Weitz will begin its work on Monday, May 22. 6. Work during Commencement Weitz plans to continue work on Commencement Day, but they will be careful to keep noise to a minimum.
