THE EXOTIC PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES STUDY GROUP
(laurel leaf logo)

EPLSG is an extracurricular study group that meets for one hour a week during the first eleven weeks of each semester, time and interest permitting, to learn some computer language that is not covered in the regular Grinnell College curriculum.

This semester, we are studying PostScript, a language designed primarily to describe and determine the appearance of text and graphics on printed pages.

Our textbook is PostScript Language Tutorial and Cookbook, by Adobe Systems Incorporated (Reading, Massachusetts: Addison-Wesley, 1986; ISBN 0-201-10179-3).

We'll develop our PostScript programs with the GNU Ghostscript interpreter and display the results with the gv (``Ghostview'') previewer.

Adobe Systems also makes the complete language definition (PostScript Language Reference, third edition) available on line as well as in book form (Reading, Massachusetts: Addison-Wesley, 1999; ISBN 0-201-37922-8).
