Exegesis Setup

5a. Enter an abbreviation for your course:
This abbreviation should be short. It should include only numbers and/or lowercase letters, and no spaces. You'll use the same abbreviation for all Critical Tools for this course.
(e.g., 306, 316kbrit, 391m, or history101)

5b.Select the academic term in which your course is being taught:

If "other," enter a one-word name for the term.
(e.g., summer1 or interterm)

5c. Select the year in which your course is being taught:

If "other," enter the year in four digits.
(e.g., 2010 or 2084)

6. Enter a word or phrase for the title of your Exegesis page:
This word or phrase will appear at the top of the Exegesis page.

7. Enter a one-word abbreviation for the title you entered in field 6:
This name will be used in the address of the Exegesis page. It will not appear on the page.


Text Preparation Fields for Your Exegesis Page:

8. Provide the title as you want it to appear on the annotatable page.
The title of the work to be annotated will appear on the page as an annotatable portion of the text itself.

9. Provide the name of the author of the text you are making annotatable.
The author's name will appear immediately below the title and will also be annotatable.

10a. Provide the text that you want to make annotatable.
You may type or paste the text from a text editing program. You must use HTML tags to indicate line breaks ( <br> ) and paragraph or stanza breaks ( <p> ). You will be able to preview the text, and make changes to it, before the Exegesis page is created.

10b. Select the type of text that you are making annotatable.
Prose
Poetry
Concrete poetry or format-heavy text

11. Enter a prompt for the Exegesis page:
The prompt you provide might suggest ways for your students to use the page.

12. Enter the complete URL for your course home page:
If you provide the URL, your students will be able to link to your course home page from the bottom of the Exegesis page.

15. Select a group of fonts in which to display your page:

If "other," list your font choices in order of preference, separated by commas.
