Strategy #1:
Take Good Notes

Notes are important because they record information more permanently than your memory does, of course, but they do more than that. Taking notes activates the kinesthetic part of your brain--the part that deals with physical movement--and it therefore gives you two different ways of grabbing onto a bit of information. That's why taking your own notes is much more effective than following a lecture while reading someone else's notes.
