Course Goals:
This course is the second half of a year long, mathematically based, introduction to fundamentals in probability and statistics. This semester we will cover fundamental ideas in statistics including exploratory data analysis, data production, and basic statistical inference. Particular goals of the course:

• To learn basic techniques for exploring and describing data sets.
• To understand and appreciate the importance of how data are produced and the difference between experimental and non-experimental studies.
• To learn basic inferential methods, understand why they work, and appreciate their robustness properties.
• To gain facility in R.
• And to understand the useful role that statistics plays in our world.
