Math 131 is the first part of a two-semester sequence on calculus. Our textbook for the year is Calculus, fifth edition, by James Stewart. We will cover roughly the first 6 or 7 chapters this semester.
Assignments are due at the beginning of the class they are assigned for. Regular homework and regular class attendance are the cornerstones of effective study, therefore I will generally not accept late homework papers. Here are some specific situations related to homework:
I assume you will come to class. If you have to miss a class for some important event, you should discuss the anticipated absence with me in advance. The health center is good about alerting me to illnesses. I think it is important to be in class, both for you and for the success of the class.
Assignment Sheets:We will hand out paper copies of assignment sheets in class, but should you want another copy you can get it from the course web page.

Exams We will have hourly exams on September 20, October 15,and November 15. We will have a comprehensive final exam on December 18, Tuesday, at 9 am.
