Exams

There will be exams on 2/11, 2/26, 3/12, 4/14, and 4/29. Exams will include computational problems and conceptual problems. Your lowest exam grade will not be counted. There is a comprehensive final exam on Wednesday, 5/14 at 2:00. Don't make flight arrangements or other plans that will require you to take an alternate exam. Those who do will lose a letter grade on their exam.

Homework

Doing homework regularly is essential to learning the material. Homework is due at the beginning of class. Late homework will not be accepted.

Writing Assignments

Essays cover a number of the concepts at the heart of calculus. Essays must be typed, double-spaced, and handed in separately from regular homework. They will be graded on the basis of the quality of your writing as well as content. They should address the question concisely, in about a page. Essays must not exceed two pages. About Writing Essays

Collaboration

While I encourage you to work with others, all collaboration must be acknowledged. If you got help from a friend on a problem, indicate this by writing "with help from" or "worked with" followed by the name of the person you spoke to. If you got help from the math lab on a problem, you can just write "with help from math lab". While you may work with others to figure out problems, be sure to write up the problem set you'll be handing in independently.

Time Commitment

It is normal to spend 10-12 hours weekly outside of class.

Grades
Homework: 20%

Accomodations

If you have specific physical, psychiatric or learning disabilities and require accommodations, please let me know early in the semester so that your learning needs may be appropriately met. You will need to provide documentation of your disability to the Associate Dean and Director of Academic Advising, Joyce Stern, located in the lower level of the Forum (x3702).
